Fasting to ease joint pain

Over the last several months I’ve noticed a lot of discomfort (just shy of pain) in my knees and sometimes my hips, primarily going up and down stairs, and especially when lying in bed. I’ve been trying to rule out certain foods or other things, but after fasting again (it’s been a while) since last night I’ve noticed a significant decrease in the amount of discomfort. Stairs are quite a bit easier and let’s see what sleeping is like tonight. I’m concerned that this may be the beginnings of arthritis (I’m 51/m if that makes any difference).

Just curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar and what the long-term effects from fasting have been.

Answer

Fasting helps my gout and general joint pain. So does a carnivore diet.

I think a good path would be fast –> carnivore diet –> slowly add back one food every 3 days until you can determine what triggers your pain and what doesn’t

Answer

Try carnivore diet after you are done fasting. Treat it as an elimination diet to see if you still have joint pain while eating mostly only meat. Then introduce foods slowly that you think will be good to eat until you observe something that causes joint pain.
