Is anyone currently using fasting to treat cancer? What type of fasting, how often, water only?

Dr Alan Goldhamer has some very informative videos that touch on this subject. I would suggest you start with his interview on rich roll’s podcast. Goldhamer is the founder of True North Health Center and will take your phone call if you call him. Best to you.

Answer

I read some research on this shortly after diagnosis. What I learned is it really depends on the specific type of cancer. Honestly I couldn’t follow all the scientific research papers I found, and none of it seemed overwhelmingly conclusive either way, so I was like “yeah, never mind”. Just sharing what I did/learned. Hugs if you need them.

Answer

It probably helps in a lot of different ways. Another avenue to follow is alternative protocols that have a lot of groups on Facebook (and maybe reddit too, I haven’t looked):

There is a very good book on the subject How to Starve Cancer: Without Starving Yourself by Jane McLelland.

The author cured her cancer on her own by a combination of reducing sugar / fasting and also wisely realizing that all three nutrients can contribute to cancer. Though sugar is the worst. She used supplements and older forgotten about off label drugs to cure herself. She also had a facebook page.

Answer

There’s no miracle cure for cancer yet. There’s some beginning evidence and studies being done on fasting for cancer, but it’s all preliminary. Talk to your doctor. Follow their advice. Don’t try a bunch of pseudoscientific bs that’s probably going to leave you sicker and poorer.

If cutting out sugar or carbs or whatever could cure cancer don’t you think it’d be in the news and every doctor in the country would be talking about it. I’m sure you’ll get some conspiracy theorists saying otherwise, but it logically just doesn’t make sense that they’d be hiding the cure from us.

Answer

Normal cells can live of fat, cancer cells can only live on carbohydrates.

When you fast, you trigger ketosis, which switches your body to fat burning mode, instead of sugar burning more.

If you fast and go on a very low carb diet such as keto or paleo, it will definitely help with cancer treatment.

Answer

Aren’t most people with cancer are already fasting? They have no appetite.

They throw up any food they can get down which is why they lose a ton of weight

If fasting helped cancer I’m not sure why it doesn’t help them?

I think it helps only specific cancers and it’s not conclusive, but I guess worth a try…

If I had cancer I’d be trying anything possible why not

Answer

Diet Doctor has some info on this, but fasting and vegan diet are better for shrinking precancerous tumors many of which need animal proteins to live and grow. The higher metabolic rate of cancer is disadvantaged by cancer and doctors are using fasting as part of treatment regimens.
