I’ve been consistently doing 16:8,18:6,20:4 for a few months—usually eating normally (when I want) 1 to 2 days a week. Is this too many days of consecutive fasting? I understand the metabolism slows/adjusts if you fast too often, too repetitively.
Recently; I’ve felt my hunger really shrink, which is good, but I’m afraid I’ve tasted too many days per week. I’ve also been working out almost every day in between (cardio and weights, some days both).
I feel good, lost maybe a few pounds, and most importantly, don’t feel as bloated or heavy. I really enjoy it. I just don’t want my new benchmark calorie intake to drop and if I stop fasting for a whole week (like on an upcoming vacay), to ballon right back.
If it matters: I’m male, 6ft2in, 200 pounds.
Earing 1 meal a day is not medical fasting.
You are intermittent fasting. As long as you are fairly healthy intermittent fasting is safe indefinitely.
See a dietician in a hospital setting if you have medical needs or as you say, you exercise heavily.
Metabolism does not slow.
The scenarios in which metabolisms may change are radical– POW/annorexia/famine, or on the opposite end– becoming a bodybuilder or doing steroids– not missing a meal a few times a week.
