Fasting with a Cold

I’m on day 3 of a 5-7 day fast. Problem is that there is a bug in my house that caught me. Phlegm, fever, body-aches et cetera.

Has anyone else ever had a similar situation? Should I stop fasting?

Answer

I wouldn’t stop fasting just because I got a cold. Meaning, there’s nothing about eating that will defeat the cold virus. On the other hand if you feel particularly weak or tired, and you sometimes feel this way on a longer fast, you may not be able to differentiate between normal fasting tired and ‘I’m extraordinarily weak and tired because I’m sick’. It may give you peace of mind to abandon the fast so that you’re only dealing with one challenge at a time. God bless you.

Answer

TBH I think it helps although I’m no doctor.

Answer

I just got over a cold. Symptoms did not significantly improve until I broke my fast. Moving forward, I will likely try to break fast when I’m sick.
