Fasting with a toddler at home.

I’ve got a 2 year old little girl who has recently started noticing that I’m skipping meals. Has anyone else gone through this, as a parent trying to demonstrate good eating habits but also not eating for days on end? I’ve tried to explain to her on her own level that mommy is waiting to eat until she is hungry but now she is starting to constantly try to feed me food off of her plate. Like, she wants me to enjoy the meals she’s having with her like we used to and it’s legit upsetting her that I won’t eat with her. I’ve made such progress in the last month in losing pounds before my wedding in June, but I don’t know if it’s worth it if my little one is getting the wrong message from it. Would love some perspective on this from other parents!

Answer

No advice here really.

I stopped fasting when my baby started eating solids so we could eat together and set a good example. It’s just a sacrifice I chose to make for the greater good. Fasting is not necessary for weight loss and kids learn eating habits right from the start. Seeing mom or dad purposefully skip meals can easily lead to an eating disorder later on.
