Fasting with Primary Addison's Disease and Low glucose

I’ve been practicing intermittent fasting for a couple of years now. With the last month we have been doing one meal every couple of days. I’ve been trying to push past two days but I keep running into low blood sugar problems. I usually end a fasting period when I hit 65 mg/dl. It’s about that point I feel really crappy and sick.

Thanks to intermittent fasting I’m no longer type 2 diabetic and lost nearly 60 lbs. I’ve done one seven day fast, but I ended that one because of low blood sugar, I stopped at 42 mg/dl. Since then I Just haven’t been able to go longer than 50 hours.

Any advice?

Answer

Yes- I have advice. I suffer from low blood sugar. Listen to your body. You feel weak, shaky of more than a short time? End the fast. Most people will not suffer a blood sugar crisis if they fast if they are not on hypoglycemic medications, but symptoms of low blood sugar should not be ignored.
