Is it recommended to do a water fast for 96 hours without any electrolytes?
Two things to consider:
If you take electrolytes in a reasonable dose but did not need them, your body will just discard them. If you don’t take electrolytes and your body needed them, you can literally die from electrolyte imbalance.
Electrolytes will make your fast easier, and thus fasting more sustainable. You will have more energy, sleep better (or sleep at all), etc.
So I really don’t see why anyone wouldn’t take electrolytes.
My personal experience: Fasted many times over the years, could never get past 5 days water fast without electrolytes. I literally felt like my body was dying and I stopped. Once I read about electrolytes on here and followed those guidelines, I did 18 days no problem.
