Feeling bad upon breaking my fast

Hi everyone. I’m a 39 year old male, about 310 lbs. I’ve recently started IF. I’ve been doing 14/10 for the last few weeks, with the intention of moving to 16/8 once 14/10 is well tolerated. My last bite is at 10:00pm and my first bite the next day is at noon. What I’ve noticed is that I get some slight hunger around 9 am, but that goes away quickly and I’m not really hungry after that. I’m clear headed while in the fasting window. However, as soon as I have something to eat at noon, I suddenly get quite foggy. Is this something anyone else has experienced? Will it pass? Anything I can do to prevent the feeling? Thanks for any input.

Answer

I believe that’s digestion. It took my body a bit to adjust to IF so once I ate, my body really focused on the digestion and it was brain fog and food coma for a few weeks. Now, I no longer feel that as much.

Answer

What are you eating at noon?

It’s important to break fasts without shocking your digestive system. IE, you have to “warm it up”, especially as your body is acclimating to the recalibration you’re asking of it.

A cup of bone broth is a nice way to break a fast… maybe give that a shot?
