Feeling cold on IF, sign of bad fat adaption?

I always wondered why feeling cold on IF is considered normal. Did our hunter & gatherer ancestors felt cold as soon as food ran out? Fasting must have been the default state and feeling cold as the default state doesn’t seem normal to me.

So is freezing when fasting maybe just a sign of bad fat adaption? When there is enough fuel on the body as fat, why should the body decide to feel cold and uncomfortable? Maybe someone from the carnivore crowd with long term experience and very good fat adaption can tell how he is feeling when he fasts.

I have enough bodyfat on me (20-25%) but i also feel cold very fast when not eating every 6 hours or so. Even when fasting for some days (up to 5), which showed in some studies that it even increases the metabolic rate, i still feel cold. Especially on 16:8 IF it feels really uncomfortable until i eat again.

It might have to do with hydration. I go through the same thing.

This is anecdotal, but whenever I’m deep into my fast, I make sure to drink plenty of water. With no carbs or sugar, water isn’t absorbed as much.

If I feel “cold” or dehydrated, I usually add a dash of salt and some lemon juice into my water. This helps with hydration.

I’ve been getting very cold lately also. I’ve read it may be our metabolism slowing to conserve energy. For me, I’m leaning towards this because I stop eating at 5:30pm and am absolutely freezing from about 8pm until I go to bed. I need to sleep with a heated blanket to fall asleep lol. It’s so odd for me. The other night I had a big take out cheat meal at 8 pm and wasn’t cold at all that night. No heated blanket needed.I 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe feeling cold makes you get up and hunt for food instead of doing nothing, therefore maximizing your survival if you lived like your ancestors.

I’m just speculating :)

I feel very cold too when I fast for multiple days, and have to wear a jacket.
