Feeling discouraged

I’ve been fasting pretty consistently over the last few months, usually at least 18 hours. I’m feeling a bit discouraged by the lack of movement on the scale. I’d really like to drop 15 or so pounds. I’m trying to remind myself that the MAIN reason I’m fasting is for other, life-long, health benefits. What do you guys focus on, besides weight loss, to stay motivated??

Answer

Intermittent fasting is one of the ways to loose some fat, because it provides a simple framework for when to eat, but it’s not necessary the best or ultimate way for everyone.

But regardless if you loose weight or not - you still get autophagy benefits and, if you eat earlier in the day, improved insulin response and better sleep.

So you should really continue with IF regardless, but learn other calorie management tools like volume eating, keto diet, CGM use etc. if you want to loose weight too.

That’s said scale is rarely your friend. It’s much better to note how you feel and how the pants fit.
