Feeling discouraged

Hello! Im 5,6F, SW 143lbs. Im the biggest I’ve ever been, including being pregnant 3 times. I have been exercising 3-4x a week at Orange Theory, counting calories, and the scale hasn’t budged in 9 months. I started IF with a 16:8 7 days ago. Sometimes I end up doing OMAD thus a 20:4 schedule. I eat clean when I eat, but I generally also have a whiskey and diet soda during my eating time. The scale still hasn’t moved!!! I feel better and have more energy but I haven’t lost a pound or an inch. What an I doing wrong? I’ve had all my labs tested and everything is completely normal. I have always weighed around 110-120 until about a year ago.

To get the last 10 lbs off (or 20 here), I’ve heard others say they need to do some more extended fasts to kickstart weight loss or move past a plateau. Maybe try some 36 or 42 hour fasts?

Also, alcohol is not your friend here. Try to cut out the daily drink.

Answer

How much is the calorie deficit? It’s possible you’re underestimating the calories you consume.

7 days is too early to see much change. You’d have to eat at calorie deficit consistently for at least a month or longer and weigh every morning at the same time and then see the overall average fluctuations of your weight to be able to tell anything.

Also your daily water intake is important.

When losing weight you usually start with losing water weight first, which helps to go quicker when you drink enough water.

Answer

The calorie counting has likely wrecked your metabolic rate. So may take quite some time for IF to start doing its thing. (According to podcasts.)

Prepare/brace for some more disappointment, before things start to improve. I am sure you can pull through. IF usually takes some getting used to.

Answer

Have you tried a Keto diet?

That is what has always worked for me because those Carbs are what generally keep on the weight as opposed to Protein and Dietary Fat (Steak, Salmon, Chicken, etc.)

It leaves you feeling Satiated and not hungry and your body will utilize Fat as oppose to Glucose for fuel.
