Female in 40’s seeking fasting advice 😊

Hello I am 45 female - had stress in life two years ago that led to bunch of hormone issues and also weight gain. I want to lose 12 lbs and want your advice. I have been doing 16/8 the last one month and lost a couple lbs I think. I am medium to low carb most days. Mostly healthy but not 100% focused on intake so far. Now I really want to up my game for next month…

Seeking your advice :

  1. Should I do 16/8 or OMAD or 2x 24 hours fasts per week to lose body fat?

  2. Can I continue with low carbs (doc says carbs important for hormone production for me)

  3. When should I workout? Before a meal or after?

  4. I love to jog, Zumba and do some weights - I was going to the gym 4-5 times a week but since I started IF, it has dropped to 2 times a week (eat in the evening and then can’t go to gym and weight bearing capacity has also gone down). My aim is to lose fat. What kind of workout regime do you recommend?

  5. I take multivitamins, magnesium already due to other issues…anything else?

Thank you! 🤗

Hey folks! Went an hour beyond 24 hours today (did 25 hours fast)! And I ended my fast with a 2 mile run + 3 reps of squats with weights! Yay! Thank you so much for your guidance and support! Now I am setting another smallGoal of doing 24 hours + overnight…so like 36 hours fast…

Intermittent fasting works best if you give it time. I understand your impatience, but the most important thing I think is to reestablish a healthy relation with food again. By doing IF your hunger signals become distinguishable from psychological food signs again (stress eating). You will learn to make better choices from now on.

Allow your body to find its balance again, and don’t overthink it too much. There are many examples here of people eating absolute trash and still losing weight on IF. It doesn’t mean that it is a sustainable solution, but it does show there’s no reason to overthink it.
