Final update: 30 Day Fast + 5 Day Refeed complete

Hi all,

Posted here at slightly over my mid fast mark and when I completed my fast, wanted to give y’all one final update since I probably won’t visit this place as much anymore.

I started my fast on Jan 19th, weighing roughly 195-197lbs. Started it with a goal for 30 days but was open to ending it at 40 days too, but at the 30 day mark I decided I’d rather stop “early” and re-feed slowly because I had some work events coming up shortly after the 40 day mark that I would need to eat at. Only thing I had during fast was water and electrolytes (this is make or break, please don’t skip on it).

Ended my fast on Feb 18th at 169lbs roughly. I broke it with some tonkontsu ramen broth, along with pork chasu and an egg. Chewed very slowly and made sure to take my time with the meal, took easily over an hour and I was very satisfied with everything (roughly 500-600 cals?)

Next few days my diet has mostly been lowish carb and high protein. ie. Salad’s, chicken, beef and low carb bread / wraps. Not really keto but I’m not eating empty/heavy carbs either (like pasta and breads).

5 days of refeeding later I weighed myself at 171.6lbs today morning, so roughly 2-3lbs in weight (water + food etc.). I made it a point not to weigh everyday due to fluctuations over a small time affecting me mentally negatively (like seeing 5-7lbs in a day).

So total weight lost in my 35 days (30 day fast + 5 day refeed) was roughly 25lbs, averaging at 0.715lbs/day. For some context I’m roughly a 5’9 man.

Feel free to ask any questions, happy to give back. Post-fast my hunger is mostly gone, no cravings for takeout, anything heavy or even carbs. I ate 800 cals today and I couldn’t really bring myself to eat more, I’m going to eat more tomm if I’m hungry to make up for it cause I don’t want to undereat but my relationship with food seems healthier than ever and I’m grateful for making it through the fast.

Keep calm and fast on.

Do you not work or you’re a just a student? I really can’t see how this is at all possible, sustainable or comfortable for anyone who works. And that’s NOT an insult to you I swear!

I work full-time as a nurse and can’t fast more than 2 days because my shifts are very very active.

Wow amazing nice work! With the electrolytes did you buy a special powder that had everything you needed? The daily average is crazy good. I’m 6-2 250lbs and my back has been killing me from gaining so much weight this last year. Been hitting the gym daily and watching what I eat. Aiming for 16-8 and 18-6 but the results aren’t anything to write home about.. maybe adding a few long 1-2 day fast is what I should do
