Finished 26 Day Water Fast!

Finally done with this long journey. I meant to do it for 28, but was in a position where I had to eat socially. I’m still proud though. I’ll quickly get to the results.

EW: 129.8 lbs/ 58.8 kg

Total Lost: 27.8 lbs / 12.6 kg

This was a pure water fast so just water and electrolytes. It was such a crazy journey. I started this to stop my weird attachment to food and after breaking my fast last night I can say that it definitely worked. During the fast I had intense food cravings, but even after breaking the fast I have realized that food isn’t as great as idolized it to be and I have a much more neutral feelings towards eating in general.

Experience: This was definitely the longest fast I’ve ever done. But I had done a 7 day water fast as well as multiple 5 day fasts before. The first week was the worst. Hunger is up, cravings are up. I won’t say that it gets easy after that, the cravings are still there, but at least the hunger is gone. Honestly the hardest part is the boredom. I never realized how much time we spend eating. Just keep yourself busy and you can get your mind off of it. Another part is the insomnia. I could not sleep well the entire 26 days. I’m jealous of all the people saying they sleep like babies while fasting, it’s always been the opposite for me.

Overall, it was an interesting ride of self-diecovery. Would I ever do this again? Probably not, but I learned so much and took away more than I thought I would. The weight loss is also a great plus, too.

Thank you for sharing! This is inspirational since we have similar weight stats (starting weight). Did you get headaches and weakness at all during your fast? What did you use for electrolytes? Like the salt and recommended no salt stuff? What did you do to fight the boredom and keep busy? Usually on fasts even on shorter ones like 5 day or 7 did you find that you lost a pound a day on average? I’m starting my own week fast and would love any info you can share! Thank you!

I work a 9-5 job that takes a lot of focus mentally and socially. I fear that doing a fast like this would slow my performance at work. Do you work or have school and if so, how did it affect you in those areas?

This is so impressive! Great job! Would you recommend weighing yourself daily or rather weekly (or any way that you did it). Also have you ever experienced a weight stall during the fast? I have had multiple times when I was fasting but the weight wouldn’t come off so I am curious about that.
