First 42hr fast and rookie mistake

I fasted from lunchtime Monday to breakfast today (Wednesday). Had a bone broth in the evening each day but otherwise just water and electrolytes.

Hunger was coming and going in waves last night, but managed to push through easy enough. When I woke this morning though there was no hunger at all, felt great - I considered going another day. Decided not to for my first attempt so ate my normal breakfast (homemade muesli with oats, dried fruit, nuts, seeds, yogurt, whole milk, plus small orange juice, coffee with milk no sugar). Total breakfast is about 19g protein, 54g carbs, 26g fat.

That was a mistake. Had to stop at a public toilet on the way to work. Gut pain now sitting at my desk. Honestly wish I was still fasting.

Any suggestions for an easy to prepare breakfast to break a fast?

Answer

I had similar kind of problem when I broke the fasting using nuts and seeds. May be, Please don’t to eat nuts and seeds to break the fasting. Instead eat them after (few hrs) you break the fasting. If possible soak the nuts for at least 24 hours before you eat them.

A 42 hour fast really isn’t enough to alter your dietary needs… My guess is it was just too much food. If you’ve not got any food allergies/sensitivities to what you ate, it shouldn’t really cause a problem. If it did, maybe you’ve got some sensitivities and/or you just ate too much.

I would always break the fast in the evening when I can be alone at home. As soon as you eat something your whole system starts working. No matter what I broke the fast with I always had gut movement shortly after. And I broke my fast with following: nuts, eggs, soup, canned fish, steak, broth. All of those foods caused some kind of movement…

just stick to staying at home I suggest
