First fast ever. 17 hours in, trying for 72.

The only speed bump I’ve run into so far is I tried to go to the gym and do some cardio on the elliptical machine. I had no energy and felt really nauseated. I only stayed on for 7 minutes when I usually do it for 30.

Any tips on how to get cardio without feeling sick?

Answer

Doing a 72 hour fast as a first fast can be a bit risky. Maybe try a 24 hour or maybe 36 hour fast and build yourself up? It would suck to pass out and get stuck with an ambulance bill.

Like others mentioned, it’s best if you start gradually, I know it might not sound like a lot, but it’s a really praiseworthy amount for fasting! Just add a few hours on the next fast, and then some more, so start with 24, then 30, then 36, 42, etc.

Also if you haven’t done it yet, general advice is to first do a keto/low carb diet for at least the first rew weeks before your first fast. At least from my personal experience, fasting is so much harder if you’re eating a carb-loaded diet, as opposed if you eliminate most/all of them first.
