First post here. My story.

Hi. I discovered IF when my wife told me about it. She heard from a friend who was sharing her results. My wife started doing it, and I thought it sounded interesting so I gave it a try. I didn’t really have a serious weight loss goal. I’m a distance runner in excellent health, and I had a mild ambition to lose about 15 lbs to get to a better racing weight. I love running. I don’t run to lose weight. I lose weight to be a better runner.

That was about 6 weeks ago. I started on 16:8 but quickly made that more like 20:4. Now I have Fastic set for 17:7 but typically go 18 or 19 hours. I cannot believe the results. I’ve already lost that 15 lbs and I’m thinking I can do another 5. I can’t push my gut out anymore.

I’m just not feeling hungry most of the time. I used to get quite hungry before bed, and would often snack. Sometimes I’d wake up in the night feeling hungry. No longer. Mood is noticeably improved too. I’m faster, less injury prone, have better speed endurance, and suffer less fatigue, even when getting into depletion. Seriously, everyone should at least try this. Consider me converted.

That said, I’m an amateur next to her. She sometimes goes 24 hours or more. I wish you all the best on your journeys.

Answer

My story is similar I love running, but covid made me put weight on and my 5km runs went crashing from 24 to down to 30 mins. Last week my parkrun was 26 mins 20 secs, since start of Sept I have lost 3 inches and my speed has improved from by 10 on average each week. I feel quite confident my spring (I’m slower in winter anyway) that I can get back to 24 and better.
