Forgot to eat on keto

Hey, yesterday I had work in the morning and then I went on a fishing trip for the rest of the day. I ate like 4 strawberry’s in the car on my way back but then I came home and passed out. So yesterday I pretty much fasted all day. Is this a sign I’m becoming fat adapted? I’ve done 3-4 day fasts in the past but they were always hard. I had a cheat meal the day before Whare I ate carbs and yesterday when I was accidentally fasting I had some annoying headaches. Wich I attributed to a withdrawal or switching back to burning fat. In hindsight this day of fasting probubly helped me recover from the cheat meal and get back into ketosis faster. Does doctor Fung like keto diets? Or just carbs with fasting ? I know he says to avoid underground vegitables wich tend to have high carbs.

Answer

He originally started by promoting low-carb diets to help people with diabetes or weight issues, but then switched to fasting when he found it was simpler for his patients. So he definitely is in favor of doing keto, at least for some people some of the time.

That’s pretty cool that you basically fasted accidentally, and yes I would say it suggests you are becoming more fat adapted, or perhaps maintaining steady or Ketone levels which helps control your appetite and hunger levels.

Answer

Dr Fung does not really advocate any specific diet, he maintains give yourself time between meals, eat natural foods until you are full, cheat meals are fine and a few extended a fasts are a good idea too.
