Fruit or Spice, yet to be researched upon

So my sister is a Human Nutrition Major, she is looking for a fruit or Spice that has little or no research done upon it. (it is for an assignment, not a full research project) We could go with an extremely obscure pick from Google, but We would like it to be at least recognized as a f8id item that is used/Consumed by a large number of people.

Tamarind is widely used in a lot of cultures, but seems to be pretty unknown in the states and western europe. I’m Georgian and we use tamarind paste for some of our stews. It gives an indescribable flavor you can’t get any other way.
