Gas when fasting

I am having a terrible time fasting lately because by about 24 hours in.. I have terrible gas… so much that I have back pain.

Anyone know why and how to avoid?

I am trying to do a 72 hour fast.

Same thing happens to me but specifically, it is upper gas in my stomach. I burp like crazy! If I don’t keep burping, my stomach gets so full that my mouth waters like if I’m gonna throw up. I run to the bathroom, like I’m gonna puke & then I burp long & slow like it’s coming up from the pit of hell.

Unfortunately, I’m a covid long hauler & that is 1 of the many symptoms I have so I just do intermittent fasting 8:16. Before covid, I could fast for days without the gas problem.

I started making milk kefir & drinking a cup every morning and a cup before I go to bed. It’s helping a lot with the burping.

Answer

It may be a side effect of candida die-off or Herxheimer reaction. Consider increasing your intake in pre- & probiotics before your fast and perhaps taking supplements like coconut charcoal during your fast

Answer

Ugh it happened again. But here is my theory… it has happened twice now when I went for a 40 minute walk and put on a kind of heavier mask… N95 and thick surgical mask.

I am wondering if the air is being pushed back into my gastro track.
