Getting blood drawn during a fast do I need to refeed after or can I keep fasting?

Tomorrow I am getting blood drawn at the doctor for annual tests and what not.

I will be 24 hours into a fast at the time I get blood drawn. Should I break my fast after I get home, or do you think I’ll be ok making it the full 72 (potentially 96) hours?

I drink salt and potassium on fasting days if that helps.

Answer

For the little bit of blood they draw out of you I would say keep fasting depending on how you feel.

Also they will see abnormal (to them) levels of ketones in your blood and think something isn’t right. They should know better that if you dont have diabetes its fine but you’d be surprised how little doctors know about ketones and fasting.
