Getting headache on fast

I always get headaches when I fast. It usually starts an hour or so after waking up. It might be because of sudden caffeine withdrawal since I drink tea/coffee twice or thrice daily. But this headaches is the only reason I can’t have prolonged fasts. Some pain is constant. Then it spikes and is highest right after I break my fast. Then goes down.

Is there any other reason than caffeine that this might be happening? Any solutions? It’s really a friction for me to do fasts.

Answer

I had headaches for the first weeks. A dash of salt and water usually helped. I took some otc pain med occasionally as well. I’m 6 weeks in and haven’t had headaches in a while. Hope it’s temporary for you as well!

Answer

Had minor headaches during the first week (especially during workouts) - I did cut all the sweets and sodas instantly so I presume my body went haywire. After a couple of days the headaches stopped. Push throught it and don’t worry.
