So here’s the thing with weight loss and lifting weights. That will significantly raise your IGFa1, also known as the primary growth hormone. Things like milk and high protein does the same. If you’re really big, I’d cut calories a lot, stop the shakes and quit lifting for a while. You will ALWAYS lose at least some muscle when you lose weight. The only method around this is literally anabolic steroids. I’ve found cutting the exercise and doing ultra low calorie days until I hit a reasonable weight. Only then do I start any exercise beyond walking. If you’re only looking to lose like 10-15 lbs, ignorwe the above said and just cut a few hundred calories and reduce lifting a couple of weeks.
