Guys I wanna tap out

I usually do OMAD but instead was aiming for an extended fast, 100 hours. But I feel like I’m dying. I don’t know if I can take care of my toddler in this state of exhaustion.

I’m only 50 hours in.

Edit: yeah I broke my fast and it’s delicious.

Then tap out! You should not feel that horrible while fasting—especially if you’re consuming adequate electrolytes. Listen to your body.

Break the fast and try again another time.

I fast regularly, and while 95% of them are fine, 5% are what I’d consider “bad fasts.” Those are the ones that for whatever reason make me feel like garbage. I never push through those because the one time I did, I ended up passing out.

Never hesitate to break a fast that makes you feel seriously unwell.

Just eat !! If you’re not feeling well , don’t continue.

One time I was on day 3 of a fast right after I did a 2 day fast with only 1 eating window and I woke up unable to walk and I was extremely dizzy.

Thankfully there were people around who noticed and got me food.

Take care of your health first over a fast.

50 hours is already great and impactful. Take the win and eat .

If you’ve never gone beyond OMAD before, then 100 hours is a really long stretch and not advisable. You need to build yourself up to it. Do 24h fasts, then 36h, then 48h, etc.

Also for general health (and even treatment of most diseases) or even just for weight loss, you don’t really need to go on extreme fasts.

Cell regeneration and immune system build up happen on (proper) refeeds, so shorter but more frequent fasts (2-4 days tops at a time) are more doable and effective than killing yourself with extreme longer fasts.

If you don’t have health issues, OMAD (with healthy nutritious meals) is more than enough for most people to maintain a healthy body (and losing weight will depend on what and how much is on your plate when you’re breaking the fast).

You might be fasting at the wrong point in your cycle! It is super dangerous and difficult to fast at certain points as our hormones change so much throughout, so our energy levels can get impacted very differently at certain points. I categorically cannot fast even 24 hours on the 8 days leading up to my period. But other points in my cycle I can do 72 hours with ease. You should read up a bit about it and maybe try again at a different point. (I’m assuming you’re a woman from ur username lol)

Good for you in responding to what your body needs right now. Fasting is all about developing a better relationship with your mind and body. The most important thing you want your body to learn from fasting is the difference between appetite and hunger. It’s not a cognitive thing IMHO, it’s mostly a hormonal thing. This is why many people use fasting for years and years to keep their hunger hormones in check and maintain a healthy weight. We live in a society that oversaturates us with appetite. For example, fast food marquees advertising their high calorie foods, social media posts promoting fabulous dishes and cooking techniques, TV shows on food competitions, grocery stores that place high calorie/low nutrition items at the entrance to entice you. Food has become less of a necessity and more of a hobby and or coping mechanism for many in our society with obesity the consequence.
