Had success with IF, struggling with IF + Keto

TL;DR: Has anyone else felt good while doing IF + carbs, but hungry when doing IF + keto? Should I go harder on carb-reduction, or put the carbs back in?

I started IF in college, I would swipe into the cafeteria once a day to see if I could save money by eating in one session rather than swiping in 3 times a day. I would eat over the course of an hour, slowly packing food in (mainly pasta, pizza and some chicken) but not feeling hungry while eating or afterwards. After a few days, I was no longer hungry throughout the day, or a slave to snacking. I wasn’t doing IF to lose weight, as I’ve been fortunate to be able to survive on pasta/pizza while always being skinny, but it was really nice to stop snacking all the time.

A few years later, I’m trying to get back into IF (also trying light keto), but after a week I still feel hungry every day. I eat around 4pm, and I don’t feel full, so I always have this craving to snack more. Sometimes I snack more afterwards, but I generally stop before 10pm and go to bed hungry. I feel full when I wake up, but I feel super weak just before 4pm. I never used to feel weak when going up stairs before.

Maybe I could try stopping keto and just do IF, and see if the carb starvation is making me hungry. Or, maybe I should go stricter with keto, and see if I am not cutting out enough carbs for my body to switch over to ketones as a supplemental source. Perhaps if I did a more strict keto I would feel less hungry.

Your timelines seem pretty tight (lots of change in a small window). I would try a few weeks of 16:8 IF without keto, then ease yourself in to reducing carbs and going keto once your body has adjusted to the time restricted schedule.
