Hair loss on Snake Diet

I’m getting back into fasting for a little bit of weight loss and for autophagy reasons due to chronic condition. Since I am only looking to lose like 8 pounds or so I am only doing two 40s a week with the rest of the days OMAD.

Over a year ago I lost quite a bit of weight doing OMAD and I felt like my hair thinned out quite a bit.

Has anyone found a way to combat hair loss while fasting?

Women are much more sensitive to calorie fluctuations personally for me I had to stop I was losing in clumps so instead ate lower calories three times a day and my cycle came back to normal and my hair stopped falling out . It was scary

Hard to say cause it’s not exactly clear that fasting is causing the hair loss. If it is causing the hair loss, my guess it that it would be related to cortisol. My recommendation would be a combination if taking a cold shower, a lot of walking, meditation, breathing techniques. Anything you can do to bring your cortisol levels down while fasting. I really recommend the Wim Hoff method. Scroll down to the first gray box to see all of his breathing techniques written out.

Hello, I thought I would chime in since i completed a round of fasting for about just under 2 months. Did 48’s with a re-feed and repeat.
Hair loss is extremely common. It’s called Telogen Effluvium and you will notice it 3-6 months after you start fasting (men + women a like).

You lose 50% of your hair thickness, and it sucks. There is nothing positive about it really. It can be a shock when your hair comes out in clumps in the shower- but it IS temporary (until you stop the trigger, in this case extreme fasting). My hair took a full year to regain thickness and i’m again hesitant to long term fast again because of the potential for more hair loss. I did regain some weight and i have to do another round, but this time - I am going to do OMAD and drink bone broth for the collagen, vitamins and minerals. Take Zinc and a few other supplements at the same time.
The meal per day will be salad and protein. Plain simple and whole foods.

I think the sheer lack of nutrients is what triggers the Telogen Effluvium.
My body seems to drop weight at almost the same speed with 48’s vs. OMAD so this is what I am doing now.

Hope this helps!
