Just curious…
I can’t exercise due to mobility issues. I’ve lost 20kg with no exercise over 2 years. I keep carb intake low, and make sure I get enough protein so I don’t have issues with low blood albumen levels. It is a much slower rate of loss than for people that can exercise, but at least I am losing weight.
I couldn’t work out for some time because of surgeries. I still lost weight. But I also walked a good amount every day because of work. I think it were 4 months where I only could do no or light excercise and in that time I lost about 10kg.
But I have to say, working out definitely makes it easier for me (also just motivation wise).
I’m doing this now, about 12-14lbs from my GW, down 14lbs from SW.
Once I get there, I’m going to do some light weight and cardio programs to supplement IF to my next GW and see how I feel with some injuries I’m carrying right now that I can’t get fixed at the moment (thanks America healthcare costs).
If I can’t do the workouts without issues, I’ll be back to IF by itself.
I don’t feel like I’ve lost muscle, or strength capabilities, but I’m not sure how to tell? Honestly I think I won’t know because I’m where I’m at and doing IF because I haven’t been good with diet and working out 😅
But hey, then it’ll be all gainz! 😆
Define success, cause you can reach the “ideal weight” you wanted when you first started, only to find out that you’ve also been loosing muscle mass along the way, and you reach your ideal weight looking skinny fat.
If you don’t do muscle building exercises (don’t quote these numbers because it’s been a long time since I’ve read it but I’m close)
Your body takes its energy from muscle. 70% muscle 30% fat
With muscle building exercising it takes something like 10% from muscle
So far so good for me.
My plan was to loose the first 11KG just on OMAD. I got little over 1KG to go. So it works and better then any diet I ever tried.
Then light walking and possibly running on the treadmill for the next 10KG.
Lastly will be weights for the next 10.
But OMAD is doing such a good job so far without me doing anything, I’ll just wait untill it stops / slows down then move my goals accordingly.
When at least my body has so much fat, I don’t see why evolution this far over time decided it’s a good idea to eat muscle rather then then fat storage……
I exercise periodically, and losing weight has been much easier during the periods I didn’t exercise. So I have concluded that exercise contributes a larger amount to hunger, compared to the extra calories it burns. (Exercise has other amazing benefits though, so I will keep doing it.)
Me. Didn’t really start exercising until after the weight was gone (and honestly, don’t really do more than some crunches and pushups now). I have successfully maintained my 40+lb weight loss for over 3 years now with little to no effort.
I’ve lost around 250 lbs with 18:6 IF over 8 years or so. Very minimal exercise. Trying rolling 72s this year to try and get down to the weight I want and maintain from there. Going to start including more exercise this year though.
