Has anyone transitioned from IF+Keto to just IF? Did it make a huge difference?

I’ve had awesome success with keto, but I’ve been at a pretty discouraging plateau for a couple weeks now, and I’m thinking of giving IF a try to get me out of my slump. Before I got pregnant with my youngest, I was doing hardcore keto in conjunction with OMAD, and it WORKED. It was awesome.

But, truth be told, I really want some pizza (keto pizza is so gross 😭). And if I can have that and still get the same results, IF would be so much easier for me and my lifestyle.

Those of you who’ve tried both, can you share your thoughts? Should I stick to IF+Keto, or is IF alone just as good?

Answer

Suggestion - just eat a pizza, and then continue on with your keto diet afterwards. If you reintroduce carbs/starch/sugars you’re immediately going to gain back the water weight, regardless of maintaining a caloric deficit. Do you really think you’ll feel better if you regularly re-introduce that type of food back into your life?

Answer

I just do IF and calorie deficient. I set my loseit app to lose 1.5 lbs a week and just track all my food. I also do 3-5 hours of cardio a week and don’t count those calories at more I can eat. Lost 20lbs in two months this year so I think the keto piece isn’t needed. Sometimes I feel people can get in trouble on keto because they’re not tracking and bacon and cheese is a lot of calories.

Answer

Yes. I did a few years ago. I lost a little, maybe ten lbs with keto. Found I wasn’t actually hungry and added in a 16 he fast. Boosted that to 18 and then after awhile, it’s naturally slid to 20 and sometimes OMAD.

Answer

You can get the same results with a calorie deficit and IF, I think the main difference is you feel less hungry during fasting windows on low carb. If you feel tired of keto, it isn’t sustainable in the long run and you could end up back to square one. Try eating food with more carbs but at a 500 calorie a day deficit. You may be much happier and that’s important for a well balanced lifestyle

Answer

Whenever I stall I eat at maintenance for one day of the next week. That always causes a drop in weight at the next weigh in.Unless you’re extremely short, you’re eating too few calories. Eat more and you’ll feel better. I’ve never tried Keto as it doesnt interest me, but have found IF fits my lifestyle really well. Just try IF for a few weeks and see what happens. If you dont make progress towards your goals then try IF+Keto.
