Has anyone used Athletic Greens?

I drink Athletic greens every morning (50 calories). It’s a greens supplement with practically every vitamin and nutrient you could need.

Instead of drinking snake juice, I want to drink this every morning + water throughout the day. I want to do rolling 48’s. Thoughts?

Answer

its probably ok in general but the purpose of snake juice is to get in sodium and potassium.if your greens don’t have that then you might still need electrolytes.

since you’re doing rolling 48s though it most likely doesn’t matter.

I’ve started taking electrolyte pills myself.

Answer

50 calories is still considered a lot while you’re fasting. Are you still fasting? Yes and no.

Depending on how the calories are made up, those fifty calories can kick you out of ketosis which is the point of weight-loss oriented fasting.

If you at some point want to try to do extended fasts, past 72 hours, and you’re consuming the drink everyday, you likely won’t enter autophagy, which is why many people do extended fasts.

Regardless, you might want to check out r/fasting or the intermittent fasting subreddit and try that instead of this one.

Answer

In my opinion, fasting is about ramping up autophagy and reaping the benefits of it. I’ve heard multiple people in the fasting community/fasting focused medical professionals say that around ~5 calories is enough to break a fast, which will slow down the cellular recycling process. Will you lose weight because you’re in a major calorie deficit? Sure. But in my opinion, fasting is supposed to an abstention of all macro nutrients except for the necessary trace minerals (snake juice) so you’ll get the most benefit from autophagy. In my opinion, you’re not actually fasting. But do whatever you want
