Have meds gotten in your way?

I’m currently on nortriptyline liquid and I do wonder if it’s screwing up my fast or something. I just feel like when I wasn’t on meds, I lost weight way faster. Either the effects of the meds are breaking my fast, OR the meds themselves are. I know that for example Dayquil has something like 90 calories in one serving! And antidepressants are notorious for screwing with weight loss (or gain). Any experience with this?

Addendum: It looks like Nortriptyline Hydrochloride Oral USP 10mg/5mL does include both either sucralose or sorbitol, as well as cherry flavoring, and at least the latter no doubt breaks your fast.

Answer

Pretty much all liquid medications are going to be sweetened for palatability.

Lots of medications also include unlisted amounts of sodium, all of the “additional ingredients” should be required to be listed…but that’s not in the pharmaceutical’best interest.
