Headaches while fasting

I’ve tried fasting mutiple times but I always experience horrible headaches and migraines. I’ve tried taking supplements to reduce this and electrolytes (?) since I saw that might be the cause but it hasn’t helped. What can i do to stop this ?

Answer

Do you consume a large amount of caffeine? If so, it may be caffeine withdraw. I experience headaches like that at the beginning of fasts but they tend to go away after 24\~ hours.

If in doubt, ask your doctor

Answer

I sometimes get headaches if I don’t drink enough water.

What I started doing that made me feel a lot better was to sit down for ‘breakfast’ and down 3-4 12oz.+ glasses of water. I really felt it gave me a good start to the day.

take a look at the sidebar, Electrolytes 101.

Snake Juice recipe is what I follow (the 2L one)

>Official Recipe:
>
>1/2 tsp sodium chloride (table
>
>1 tsp potassium (NoSalt)
>
>1 tsp sodium bicarbonate (food grade baking soda)
>
>1/2 tsp magnesium sulphate (food grade epsom salt)
>
>2 L water

I take a Magnesium supplement instead of adding it to the water.

make sure you sip it all day long cause too much at once will, *cough* cause a “cleanse”

I used to get wicked headaches and head rushes when I stand up too quick, snake juice cured me. I drink this, and then another 1L of regular water throughout the day.

Answer

The recommended amount of water a day for adults is generally agreed to be 91-124+ fl oz. When you’re fasting, you’re not getting any of that from food, so you’re even more likely to become dehydrated. Do note that to really stay hydrated, chugging won’t work, you have to be drinking small amounts throughout the day, you can’t just chug a half gallon all at once– your kidneys might like that but the rest of you won’t thank you.
