Heart Arryhtmia and Angina (Heart Pain) After a 4-day Dry Fast

Hi all,

Hoping some of you can shed some insight on my current issues that arose after a dry fast. At about the third day coming off of a 4 day dry fast I had an irregular heartbeat. About a week and a half later I began having rare heart pain (angina). My heart seems like it is weaker and I feel a coldness in my chest occasionally. Yet I am still able to hold my breath for a long period of time and I don’t feel different mentally at all other than occasionally worried about what I may have done to myself by perhaps pushing myself too hard or exiting the dry fast incorrectly.

I am wondering if anyone else has had something like this happen? And what they did to “cure” it? I will be seeing a doctor soon to let you all know what I may have done wrong, or if it is even related to dry fasting at all.

EDIT: I saw a doctor and they didn’t think it was related to dry fasting at all. They told me to be more careful with allergy medication as that evidently was the most likely interaction. And they ran an EKG and everything had cleared up in terms of a strange heart rhythm. So for what it is worth, just letting you all know.

Answer

I seemed to have this with my DF - first, it was heartburn when I water fasted. When I did a 4 day DF I could feel the effects in my heart too. It only happened when I went for a long walk. It took a week for the symptoms to disappear.

I stick to weekend DF but when it comes to anything longer, I am not fit or healthy enough so I need to really train and eat super clean (plant foods) before I can think of a long DF. I am giving myself 3 months to get into great health before I do it again.
