Heart rate lowered

My resting heart rate has dropped to the 50’s. Is this caused by electrolytes? Any thoughts on whether this should be a concern?

Answer

My RHR is 51-55bpm and has been in this range for my entire adult life AFAIK. I take care of myself and am active. Maybe you’re just healthy? However if your RHR is in the 70s and suddenly jumped down to the 50s within a few days then talk to your Dr

Answer

If I’m regularly drinking alcohol I find my resting heart rate is high. RHR will gradually lower if I take a break from the booze. Might be just me though. I noticed this while fasting and thought was due to the fast until I stopped just the alcohol and saw the same thing.

Answer

Alcohol, lack of sleep, and large/heavy meals always cause a spike in my RHR. At my most fit, my RHR was in the 40s-50s. It had everything to do with my lifestyle and the types of foods I was consuming, regardless of when I ate. If you’re eating healthier, I would just say it’s a result of that! But as someone else said, if it’s a drastic decrease in a short amount of time, it might be worth talking to your doctor about.
