I tried fasting for the first time ever. I managed a 60h fast or so but I started feeling very very sleepy, dizzy and lightheaded. I drank 1.5 L of snake juice every day.
Second try started yesterday. Figured out I might be drinking too much snake juice since I see people doing dry fasts and water fasts for much longer than just 3 days so I drank much less snake juice on this try. I was feeling great until a few hours ago, again dizzy lightheaded sleepy and weak.
Are these just normal occurrences that always happen when fasting? If not is this happening because my body is not used to fasting or am I doing something wrong? I really want to do a week, fasting is awesome when not feeling as I described, but I just can’t seem to manage it.
First try I was taking plenty of potassium, sodium and salt and also some magnesium before bed.
Second try I was taking less potassium salt and water and felt much better first day than my first day on my first try. But today I fell off badly. I also take spoons of apple cider vinegar and used to take spoons of lemon juice but dropped them.
Any help would be appreciated I really love fasting makes me feel awesome but these problems prevent me for doing longer fasts to reap the full benefits of a longer fast which I really want to do atleast once.
Thank youuu
TL; DR: I eventually get very light-headed, dizzy, weak and sleepy and it prevents me from going longer into the fast, halp
I dont have any answers, but day 2-3 is really hard for most. I had day 2 off from work on my last extended fast and slept through it.
I start my fasts with eating keto before, and it makes it easier for me.
Maybe you consider doing some 72 hours fast first, to get your body used to “longer” fast, and when you feel ready you can try to stretch it out.
I hope you find a solution. Good luck!
What you could be experiencing is keto flu, usually around this time frame it hits. For me it’s usually at the 40 hour mark, and I will feel weird for about a day. Once I’m through that, then I feel great.
As someone suggested, maybe go on a keto diet first so you’re adapted, then try fasting again.
What are you stats ? (Weight, height, age, sex)? And what is your level of activity?
Also, have you ever had any issues with circulation? We fast for religious/cultural reasons in my family- one of my cousins has circulatory problems that was discovered when he was fasting.
