Hemorrhaging muscle instead of fat

I’m on day 9 of my water fast and I’ve transitioned to a state where the majority of the weight I’m losing is muscle and not fat. Does anyone have any tips or insight regarding how to avoid this - one solution is to break the fast and transition into a ketogenic diet but I was curious if it was possible to stay in a fasted state but burn more fat than muscle.

You know your muscles carry water right ? So they just look depleted … don’t worry , they’ll pop when you come off your fast. Also try taking some sodium, potassium mix, so that you don’t get too dehydrated, and your body holds onto some of all that water you’re drinking

Just a heads up, there are scientific studies posted on the national institute of health that shows the percentages of body composition shifted during fasting.

I’m on a trip so I don’t have the numbers handy.. but after 3 days where something like 25% of your calorie burn can be from muscle day 1, it quickly drops to half a lb of muscle every 7 to 10 days.

Whats your science on this? From what ive read you start losing fat more than muscle past day 5 which makes evoltionary since because why would the body get rid of muscle(what helps get food) vs get rid of fat (is literally food for the body)
