So… can anyone explain this to me? I just don’t know how the brain/body connection works, and I’m really curious.
Until recently, I hadn’t eaten a steak in about ten years. Just never really felt like it. I’ve also never enjoyed beef jerky. Since I started IF, I’ve had a growing urge for medium rare steaks (like… 3 or 4 minimum a week now), and I can’t get enough of beef jerky as a fast breaker.
Does my brain know stuff? I’m hardly ever hungry, so that’s a plus… average fast is 20 hours now, looking to push a 36 this weekend. I just don’t understand the cravings.
Red meat is a leading cause of colon cancer. Add to that the high sodium in beef jerky and you’re reversing any positive effects of the fasting. Try some probiotics to replenish your gut biome. The cravings may go away.
Liver tastes almost sweet to me. I like to mix beef liver in with ground beef based meals. My fav things after hamburgers are cooked is to eat the cooked blood drippings on the broiler grill. My fav meal is chicken liver pate with zucchini chips.
Idk why that is. My iron is in the normal range, but organ meats are my jam rn. I even bought chicken gizzards to see if I like them too. 😅
