Horrible headache, pain behind eyes -help?

It’s my day 2 of my water fast and I’m experiencing a severe headache and pain or pressure behind my eyes.

I’ve tried adding pink salt to my water but to no avail.

Any advice?

Answer

I rarely drink caffeine, but I’ve had headaches during fasts (not usually that early, though). It sounds like it’s just caffeine withdrawals, but be mindful of it. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water (and enough salt) throughout the day.

If the headache is unbearable, or something doesn’t feel right, break your fast. It’s good to have discipline, but only when you’re healthy. You can always fast again.

Answer

On your next fast try to eliminate caffeine from your diet 2-3 days before it starts. I would feel feverish, headache, painful eyes, and more for the first few days of my fast. Once I started quitting caffeine before the fast, all those symptoms went away.

If you can’t quit caffeine, you can always take a small dose in the form of a pill to stave off the withdrawal symptoms.
