Hot and flushed face?

I just stopped a fast just past 24 hours because my face was a little bit red and felt hot, while the rest of my body felt normal. Google says that’s a sign of ketoacidosis, so I stopped right away. But I don’t know anything about ketoacidosis, and I’ve read here only diabetics usually get it? As far as I know, I don’t have diabetes. I got bloodwork done in May 2022. My HbA1c was 5.1% and I’ve lost 15kg since May.

Could I have safely continued my fast? Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh! Oh! Oh!…I KNOW WHAT THAT IS!!!…

It is your metabolism…It “clicks on” and burns like a furnace when it wills once you get fat-adapted and are in a deficit.

It seriously is your metabolism.

And…it means you are def BURNING FAT!!…So REJOICE!! :D

It freaked me out when it I got fat-adapted and it began to happen to me…My face flushed and I had the warm “glowing” feeling - like I remember getting 20min after a 1st beer when I was younger! Familiar feeling, just no context for why I was feeling it.

Now I get sooo happy, knowing I am “in the zone” ketosis-wise. I can almost feel the “click” now - or at least I am IMMEDIATELY aware of what is going on and I’m, like, “YES!!”

While doing IF, I have found that anticipating and experiencing the “flush feeling” helps my build and maintain will power and discipline, at least enough to make it through the day and my drive home, where I look forward to DELICIOUS keto meats, cheeses, and the other low-carb staples that this sub has help my wife and me discover!

Hope this demystifies what you are experiencing, even if just a little bit!
