I recently became a carnivore and from what I’ve read, you’re supposed to eat very light food like soft veggies and/or fruits a day or two after breaking the fast with water.
But is there t dangerous to eat meat 1 day after breaking the fast?
For example, you break the fast with water and drink/sip all day, then the following day, you make a small carnivore meal of lamb chops and liver.
Let me know please
Thanks
After my first 24-hour dry fast I started with water, then bone broth (skimmed all the fat), then kefir (recently started making my own with raw milk — definitely recommend it especially in the fasting context. It’ll set up your gut for better nutrient absorption)
I’ve done extended water fasts (30 days) and comparing the two, to me it seems most plausible to first spend time getting properly hydrated (till your pee is no longer dark), then listen to your hunger and appetite. Go very slow. Take a few days with just liquids if it feels good.
I’m guessing as long as you’re properly hydrated first and then, perhaps after some bone broth, feeling your appetite returning, anything carnivore is game. I’m partial to steak and eggs. Though I can see trout being a fantastic first meal too. Depends what your body wants.
Water with electrolytes first, then some bone broth. I wouldn’t eat until at least 6 hours of rehydrating. If you can do some bone marrow, i would. Its soft, buttery, and nearly, if not completely, 100% calories from fat. Bone marrow isn’t everyone’s favorite, so a super fatty meat like bacon is good.
Extended fasts whilst carnivore - something light and lean, few spices of wafer thin ham/beef. Sometimes also a very small amount of kefir.
Next meal same again, slightly fattier/more food. Kefir once again.
Resume as usual. Never felt uncomfortable or had an issue at all :)
As there is zero need for any carbohydrate to consume, I’ve always eaten carnivore pretty normally after my fasts, no problems whatsoever. Just listen to your own body and go with the feeling. Meat is the one food the body has no problem with whatsoever.
