I am the type to not need weight loss and if anything I need to maintain or gain. How can I fast without losing weight. I also do want autophagy. The thing is if the advice is to just “eat more / stock up before fasting” than won’t that mean my body will just have more damage to repair. My conclusion is you have to lose weight in order to go through this process of autophagy/apoptosis to clean your body.
I won’t pretend like I have actual data to back this up, but I don’t believe there would be more “damage to repair” if you are eating foods that don’t cause inflammation.
I’m still trying to figure out how to fast without losing weight. Fasting for candida overgrowth. Love to hear if anyone else has advice on how to achieve this.
You can’t do extended fasting without losing weight. Your body needs X amount of calories to stay alive each day. If you fail to provide those calories through food, your body will catabolize itself to meet energy requirements.
And not all weight gain is “damage.” Your body is designed to have some extra fat stores (specifically to prepare for periods of famine) and adding muscle to perform new/different/more intense physical activity is natural and normal and can be perfectly healthy in most cases.
