Im doing 16:8 and finding that I’m anywhere from 200 to 500+ calories below the 2000cal I wanted to be at daily. I find it hard to cook enough in my eating window and can’t really put a lot of food into my gut without nausea. Should I be supplementing with a protein shake or something to get the calories in a healthy way?
What foods are you eating? When I do OMAD I have to stop myself from eating 4-5k calories in one sitting. It sounds like you’re either eating foods with very low calorie density, or you are eating foods that perhaps you can’t digest or are intolerant to.
You just need to research some calorie dense foods. You’re not going to get a lot of calories if you’re mostly eating steamed veggies or something. But if you’re eating foods higher in fats (like meats, cheese, oils…) you can get more calories in. It’s all about what you’re choosing to eat to get your calories in.
Maybe talk to a Registered Diatician to get a better idea of what you should be eating to meet your caloric requirements.
I had the same issue doing 16:8. I’d finish with my window and only have consumed 800 calories. So I switched to alternative day OMAD. On my fasting days I’m not usually eating 1500 like I should but I do on the other days so I think it’s fine. I had to switch to morning workouts with OMAD Good luck!
I consume 1100 calories in my eating window. Sometimes 1200 depending on how much I exercise.I’m doing the 16:8 plan. But most days I end up doing 18:6 without realizing because I’m often busy.I try to stay in a 1000 caloric deficit, so I walk a lot. Trying to hit 10,000 - 13,000 steps a day.I’m also really big tho.Hefty
I di 16-18hrs fasting daily and still manage to eat 1600-2000 cals a day. Meap prep and plan your meals.
And if you want to take supplements then you need to get a blood test first to see what you need. Supplement are mostly unregulated meds and can mess you up
