I don’t. I take a break, a few days won’t hurt. I feel its fine to listen to your body and give it some much needed rest. Plus when sick we don’t feel like eating much anyway. So such times I nourish my body with warm soups or whatever comfort food I feel like. Then once fine I get back on my OMAD.
I recently took antibiotics for a week for a sinus infection. I had to take them 3x per day with food, so I took a week off fasting. So if there’s a health reason you can’t fast, take a break until you feel better.
I continue fasting unless I need to take antibiotics with meals or something. My understanding (as a layperson who has read a lot about fasting — this is not medical advice) is that fasting is beneficial (not harmful) for the body and you would actually get through the illness faster (not slower) by fasting because your body isn’t having to process all that food and can instead focus its energy on healing. Because fasting triggers autophagy etc.
Like the flu? Or you think IF is making you feel sickly, if it’s the latter, take a couple days off, or switch to a better schedule, or get certain pills to help with vitamin deficiency. Or if it’s the flu, i simply go however long w/o food, as I don’t feel hunger when i’m sick.
