How do you distract yourself during difficult fasting times?

I’m a relatively thin female. (5f8, 135 lbs). I’ve done 24 fasts 5 times. It’s not impossible, but somewhere around the 20 hour mark I become anxious and very focused on how much longer I have to go. I have a 4 year old, so its not like I can do much to distract myself. I end up just scrolling on my phone to make the time pass and distract my mind which I know isn’t the best use of time.

Any hints for distraction? I’d love to do a 36 hour fast but even 24 hours has been difficult.

Fasting’s a great time to get stuff done, stay busy. Catch up on chores, build forts with the kiddo, meditate, journal, meal plan. Lots of walking! Check out eating videos, Eckhart Tolle talks, or learn how to improve your communication skills with Charisma on demand on YT. Good luck!

I’m a mom of littles and the advice above is not realistic with kids (sorry y’all). I know exactly what you mean and I also find myself getting a little cranky with my kids which is why the most I’ve ever done is a 24. Honestly I don’t have any good advice because whatever is distracting enough would also probably take too much attention off your kiddo. You can’t start a big project or book or whatever because you’ll get interrupted a zillion times and that’s frustrating. I usually just make tea or drink coffee for a ‘treat.’ This is 95% of why I struggle to lose the last 20 lbs!
