I got Hungry Root and love the service. I can only cook in the evening which is my worse time to eat and I also have a child to feed. I make the meal for both of us around 5pm when I get home from work. While cooking, I have to taste the food. I don’t want to ruin any fasting. I can’t change my fasting in the morning. The morning I get really hungry because of stress and work. I could maybe change my stress eating to really low fat and low carb and maybe do a omad. I end up failing fasting because of work and my daughter. If it’s my day off, I have no problems being omad. But I also have to watch daughter eats so we usually do breakfast and lunch. How can I fast without my kid doing the same thing? Kid eats healthy meals mostly.
So for myself - I have 5 little kids and what works for me ( I fast from 1 pm till 6 am daily) - is either having easy go-to ( like flavor profiles that work) and finding hacks ( like pasta - I use to try it and now I use a fork). Kids can be taste-testers. I never have issue breaking my fast. If that does not work I meal plan and make food ahead of time in the morning and reheat for dinner.
I got my kid to taste test and then I sit down with them while they eat. Sometimes I make myself a nice beef broth to drink so it feels like a meal even though it’s within fasting protocol. Or a pot of herbal tea with coconut oil in it (which again is ok with the fasting protocol according to Dr Jason Fung). Sometimes I just sit there and chat with them while they eat.
I do feel sympathy for you - I hate cooking while fasting and usually make something quick.
