How have you guys dealt with stretch marks after you have lost weight?

I went from 245 to 190 this past year largely due to fasting. I love the way I look for the first time in since I was a teen. The only trouble is I still have some nasty stretch marks around the groin that I am very self conscious about. I realize that stretch marks are scars and cannot be removed, but I know there are some treatments out there that help mask them less noticeable. I have been using Palmer’s Cocoa Butter, but it doesn’t seem to be doing much. Any other methods?

I figured this would be the best subreddit to ask on, but if there is a better one then let me know.

Stretch marks do not go away. They are scars. They’ll eventually fade for most people but short of surgery they’ll always be there.

Anyone promising to get rid of stretch marks without surgery is selling you snake oil.

I have stretch marks on my stomach from weight gain and loss. Time has kind of faded them, but they’re still there. As a guy I’m working on building my abs so the stretch marks aren’t as visible. Best advice I can give, give it time, build some muscle, and hydrate a lot with water. They won’t ever go away, but they will fade, and be a good reminder to never let yourself get way overweight again

Micro needling and good skin products definitely help a bit (my dermatologist recommends anything with hyaluronic acid) but really it’s mostly just time that’ll help fade them.

And if it helps, once they fade a little no one but you will ever really notice them. Especially if they’re around your groin, anyone who’s up close and personal with that area isn’t going to be focused on any faded stretch marks!

You can consider taking gelatin or collagen supplements. I just started taking Great Lakes Wellness collagen peptides. You can Google the benefits of it and see there are several, skin, of course, is one of them.
