How long from not drinking does it take for ‘metabollic water’ to get produced?
Is there any science on it? i.e. articles
Obviously, ‘everyone knows’ ketosis starts after 12 hours no food.
What is the equivalent for water when fat is broken down to make water?
I have heard as soon as the liver detects your blood thickening (because of a lack of water in the blood) will your body start producing metabolic water. The time it takes your blood to thicken probably differs, but I believe I heard it starts thickening at the 18 hour mark. So some time after that, once its thick, does the body start producing its own water to save you.
Ketosis doesn’t start after 12 hours. It takes roughly 2-3days (sometimes even a bit more) of dry fasting to enter ketosis. Just to make things clear (just in case), not only not drinking, but also not eating, so a total abstination from anything and everything is called a dry fast. Idk why, but some people f*ck this up.
If you want to dig deeper, i would advise you to check out Dr Sergey Filonov, a doctor living in Altai. At this point in his life, he has conducted fasting retreats for hundreds (if not thousands) of people throughout the years. He’s practicing dry fasting for over 20years.
Edit: I’ve experimented with different diets over the years and i’ve definitely noticed that when i’m in actual ketosis (i say that because even on keto diet you can be out of ketosis), my need for drinking water is less than when i’m on high or even moderate carb intake.

Edit2: “Ketosis doesn’t start after 12 hours.” Actually… i take that back. Real answer is that it depends on the diet you’re eating. But yes, for average person who eats pretty high carb, it would take 2-4 days.
