How long did it take you before you saw the first results?

I started intermittent fasting a few months ago, and here is how it went for me:

First week: No results

2nd and 3rd week: Very visible results!!!

Week 3 to 6-7: Very low changes

Week 8-12: People started to really notice a very strong difference!

How did it go for you?

Answer

It definitely depends on how much extra weight you’re carrying when you start… if you are pretty close to your goal weight (and therefore presumably eating fairly well to have not put on more weight) and you don’t change anything other than doing IF the changes will happen much slower. Also there are the other invisible health benefits too.. like reducing visceral fat ( the internal fat that can build up around our organs), studies have shown that people who appear to be a normal, healthy weight can be carrying excess visceral fat which is a health risk in itself.

I’m on week 11. I’m just starting to notice a difference now. I am 26lbs down and I’ve seen little things here or there but even just the last few days I can see the difference. First week or two was all water weight any way.

I’m 4 months in, minimum of 16:8, though have been 17:7 for the past 2 weeks. Sometimes go up to 21 hour fasts. I’m honestly disappointed with the results. SW:178 CW:171 GW: 150. 5’8. I also do intense Pilates (megaformer) 2-4x/week. Im willing to do a whole 6 months. If I don’t get down to 150 or see more progress I am going to give up IF.

Answer

I’ve been IF for a little over 2 months and as an experiment, I pulled up, zipped, and snapped my work slacks as opposed to a few months ago, I couldn’t even pull them up past my middle thighs. They are a bit snug and I don’t think wearable yet, but changes are happening. I have not weighed myself yet or maybe I’ll leave that to medical appointments.

My book by Gin Stephens says it’ll take about 3 months to start to see any progress. I’m good and looking forward to it.

It.take.forever. Seriously… In a good month, I may lose 3 pounds (IF 16:8 since February). But, I definitely feel better, in my body and in my head. My clothes fit better. I have a lot of energy, physically and mentally!
