How long does it take for your body to rebalance and go back to normal

So I fasted incorrectly for my first time and did it for about 6 days with one meal a day… I didn’t take supplements or anything stupidly and I started to feel bad. I had ended my fast and started to eat regularly again. It’s been about 2 days and I definitely feel better than I did but when will I be back at 100%. I notice i’m peeing alot also. I don’t plan on fasting again anytime soon either.

Answer

Peeing more is normal… Your body is doing all the normal stuff and there’s no carbs to absorb all that water. That’s why you gain weight when you come off fasting as the carbs you eat absorb a bunch of water and just hangs out for a while.

If you haven’t done any fasting in the past you’ll find it difficult, most people do.

There are 2 schools of thought…

  1. shock the system and go cold turkey… that’s how I like to do it.
I do 23/1 OMAD usually, but couldn’t maintain it over christmas, So to restart I’m currently on a 116 hour fast (Timing with family comittments) I’ll finish up on Sunday. Then back to OMAD after that.

  2. ease into it, OMAD is a little bit of a misnomer, because alot of people 18/6 and I wouldn’t consider 6 hours of eating a single meal… but really it’s intermittent fasting, so you can work up from the usual 6-10 hours most people get overnight to a 18-23 hours of fasting with less and less meals.

You don’t go into too many details about what you did other than omad… But it was likely too much without prep, or the amounts of food you were eating mightn’t have been right (Often too little food, not too much)

But it will take a week to go back to a normal sugar laden diet, when fasting your body needs to adapt to making it’s own sugar replacement, when it doesn’t have to, it just feels weird.

hopefully that explains it all for you, and hey you wanted to try it for a reason, it likely is worth a second go.
