I think much of the strategy depends on how you personally feel, the timing of when you break the fast, the health/response of your digestive system etc.
I always break my fasts in the evening with bone broth then a light meal an hour or so later. I find that I can then resume eating my normal meals the following day without any issues.
I broke my 96 hour fast with a cup of special K and whole milk. When nothing happened I followed up half an hour later with a full meal.
I depends on you. I always had a strong stomach, others end up in the bathroom for less.
