How many people here drink sparkling water when fasting?

And if it has 0 calories, am I right by thinking there is no risk of it breaking my fast?

Is it true that sparkling water makes you hungrier in the long run?

Answer

I love sparkling water on a water fast! It always makes me less hungry. Sometimes I add lemon water or apple cider vinegar to it. It’s super refreshing during summer. It definitely won’t break your fast🎐

Answer

Yes! I drink sparkling water all the time, fasting or not, but particularly enjoy it when I’m fasting. During a water fast I like to have still room temp water, hot water, sparkling water, chilled water and also don’t mind munching an ice cube here and there. Water in all the forms (except steam I guess!). I feel like mixing it up lends a bit of variety, fasting can be a bit boring really.

I think you’re fine. I drink it.

>Is it true that sparkling water makes you hungrier in the long run?

I don’t experience more hunger when I drink it and fast.

Answer

It’s perfectly fine to drink.

Sparkling water has been show in animal studies to increase ghrelin, the hunger hormone. I’m not entirely sure if this translates to similar effects on humans.

Answer

It’s perfectly fine, I usually drink sparkling water on eating days with a bit of lemon and when I fast I prefer distilled with some electrolytes. I just can’t enjoy it properly when fasting because the fizz and the burping gets me thinking about food. I prefer to be in the zone when I am fasting and sparkling water kicks me out of it.

Answer

BTW, be careful with your electrolytes. I know that they’re recommended… but they give me diarrhea (magnesium, I suspect). Instead, a shake or two of pink salt in hot water… can taste freaking DIVINE when you’ve been fasting for a few days. Also, hot salt water doesn’t make me run for the toilet.

Answer

I don’t feel hungrier after drinking sparkling water fasted, but my stomach growls like crazy! The amount of noises just increases a bunch. Probably the gas. But I don’t feel anything in particular apart from rumbling. It’s annoying because I’m often drinking sparkling water in the context of a business meeting (where they just have still/sparkling water and not coffee) so it can be a bit distracting…

Answer

90% of my water intake is seltzer and has been for years of fasting. I’ve never noticed any negative impact and honestly the stimulation from the bubbles is a nice way of distracting myself when I’m hungry.

Answer

I have so many favorites. I love carbonated mineral water. Pellegrino, Liquid Death, Topo Chico are my three main ones. I tried a bunch of European ones when I went to Maine and they had a large selection at one place. Loved the variety. Also love the minerals. The one I don’t drink personally even though it tastes good is Perrier, it makes me irritable. Something about those particular minerals.
